Not all sunglasses come with polarized lenses, which help protect the eyes from light that bounces off reflective surfaces. But is it bad to wear non polarized sunglasses?

Sunglasses equipped with UV protection is more important than polarized sunglasses when it comes to protection. Wearing non polarized sunglasses isn't bad, but wearing sunglasses with no UV protection is bad for the eyes especially if you spend a lot of time outdoors.

Read on below to learn more about why non polarized sunglasses aren’t bad for the eyes.

Are Non Polarized Sunglasses Bad?

Polarized sunglasses are designed to help you see better in an environment where light bounces off reflective surfaces. Individuals who engage in frequent outdoor activity under the sun such as fishing, boating, surfing, or other similar situations are recommended to use polarized sunglasses to improve vision.

In fact, non polarized sunglasses are recommended for reading, driving in low-light environments, and using computers or digital screens. Non polarized sunglasses aren’t bad but it’s more important to have sunglasses with UV protection if you spend a lot of time under the sun.

However, polarized or not, sunglasses do not offer real protection from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays unless it’s equipped with UV protection. The UV protection is what blocks the sun’s harmful rays which cause visual impairments and eye diseases in the long run.

Conclusion

Non polarized sunglasses aren’t necessarily bad for the eyes. But if you want real protection for your eyes, sunglasses with UV protection are the most effective.
